The Talon is a group of people who gave up the ways of technology for a path to find their roots. As such they discarded many of the things that people believed required in the world and all together stopped attempting to beat one another in a race to see who can come up with what the quickest.
The Talon went to a continent up north from the rest of the world and made their towns and cities there. They did use houses and some of the simpler of technologies to build their places there but no longer did they long to build such drastic displays of technology that many had built.
For the most part, the people who were of the Talon, had a closeness and a fondness to nature, many druids and shaman came from their civilization as did many who were adept at using magic and healing arts. They also tended to produce people who were quiet strong as well.
After a while of staying in the wilds, the Talon began to realize that the rest of the world would trample over top of them if they didn’t come up with some sort of agreement. So early on the Talon spoke to the world and told them that they would be the neutral force for the rest of the world. They’d perform trades and allow people to stay in certain parts of the cities and towns, as well as do other things such as help to settle disputes and help to come up with compromises. This worked for a long while and had helped set the Talon as judges for the rest of the world. They came up with fair adjustments and compromises that would have ended with war if not for them.
The Talon however, began to come up with advances of their own in ways that they hadn’t realized they would have. They developed magic that was more advanced than it had meant to become and even created alchemy. Some people of the Talon were very adept in this and were able to create and breakdown many things with alchemy. It came as no surprise when the Talon’s Alchemists became so good that they could create whole towns within a day or two.
For quiet some time though, the Talon had been quiet satisfied with their advancements into the fields of magic, medicine and divinity, eventually though the Talon questioned as to how everything worked out like that. They came to find out from looking into the past and some of the standing monuments that there was a forgotten god who had been there before. The Talon came to believe strongly that Fallos had been there and had originally created them all and the world.
The Talon sought him out for quiet a few years and prayed for him to show himself for quiet some time, but Fallos would not appear. However the Talon believed it to be a test of will from Fallos; however it was more or less that Fallos hadn’t wanted them to remember that he had been there. He was impressed by the Talon’s progress into magic and was impressed with the rest of the world’s progress on technology. He didn’t want them to go back to relying on him so strongly.
However, Felora spoke to Fallos and talked him into showing himself to the talon. When he did so the Talon treated him more as a friend rather than as a mentor, which Fallos actually appreciated, after some time though, Fallos looked at what the Talon had learned and was impressed, they actually learned how to word out some of the commands that he was able to use on a whim, with this they were able to create a great deal of things but they expended a vast amount of energy with this.
Fallos gave unto the Talon a gift, he showed them how to use their advancements into magic and alchemy and taught them the correct ways to apply the formulas and the correct way to apply the spells so that they could easily master the arts of magic and alchemy. The Talon then were shown by Fallos a method to which a simple transmutation could be used to power whole cities but they required something more than just the transmutation, they required a power source. It was also like this that Fallos showed them a way to create an unlimited power source that would adapt to the number of objects and constructs that are pulling at it. They called this Enchanted Machina, and it turned out to be a type of power source that the whole world was working so hard towards obtaining.
When the rest of the world found out about the Enchanted Machina, they became jealous, enraged, excited and a great deal of other emotions. Most didn’t know what to say, the world did not expect the neutral and less advanced nation of the world to come up with the power source that they had sought after. However, when the Talon said that they would not simply share it, it caused a big uproar. This turned out to be one of the causes of the end of the world. However, the Talon were not so rude, they held a meeting with most of the nation of the world and told them all that if they wanted to learn of the method of creating such a powerful device then they should befriend their god, Fallos. As you can imagine, the world that no longer believed in Fallos, laughed.
After the Nuclear incident, it’s unsure if the Talon were truly killed from the nuclear blast. The Talon were truly powerful with magic and had succeeded in causing the explosion of the nuclear warheads to spread outward from their continent, but it’s still unsure if they could have survived the 500 year period in which the world was clouded and covered with thick smog and nuclear radiation. Some believe that they moved into the underground caverns of Kylrit and are living from the underground water and growing food and supplies to live from down in the caverns.
The Talon did not live as many of the people of the world of Kylrit lived; they in fact lived more like the elves did. There was a great deal of Elves, Dwarves, Eladrin, Drow and Humans within their societies. There are also a great deal of other races that lived within the society of the Talon as well, but are in less number, this however simply reflects the world itself, these populations were higher in the rest of the world, and the Talon was formed from people who had the same idea in mind, to no longer put up with a world who’s sole purpose was to advance and progress in technology.
The Talon’s houses and towns actually resembled that of Elvin structures and were built around trees and rocks, seeming almost as though they’re extension of nature, however it doesn’t end there, they also had underground areas that the dwarves particularly took interest in, building stone houses and things of that sort that seemed to make the cavern have a modern look. There are even said to be areas deeper inside the mines that are effected by the Fey Realm, allowing the Eladrin to create homes and such in an area that they’re familiar with, The Eladrin became adept enough to actually control the opening and closing of the Fey Realms all together, allowing them to bring things in the Fey Realm or open a permanent portal to the Fey Realm.
The Talon used alchemy and many other instruments to get these buildings created in such a manner. One of their most valuable instruments was a Crystal of Fallos, which is rarely found inside of Fallotite. They were able to place enchantments into the crystal to create a rather unique tool. When used in conjunction with Alchemy or even the Elvin’s instruments that they used to create their homes, it would quickly increase the rate at which the structures grew without making the creators use anymore power than needed. This result made it so that there are crystals placed through out many of the forests and tunnels of the Talon civilizations, wrapped in roots or hanging from the ceilings with strange iron straps going into the ground.
The crystals also had a few more functions though, one was to create illusions. That allowed the Talon to hide very effectively from any that wish to harm the Talon. It also allows the Talon to, a certain degree, control the weather around them. It would also when combined with the Eladrin’s ability to enter and exit the Fey Realm allowed for their entire civilization to enter the Fey Realm for a time to completely remain hidden or to remove themselves from harm. The made the Talon very elusive in combat against any that wished to fight them. Including the Crimson Steel, perhaps it was even for the difficulty they had trying to hit the Talon that the Crimson Steel went as far to make the weapons that they did.
